THE POWERS OF TEN

The Powers of Ten films are two short documentary films written and directed by Charles and Ray Eames. Both works depict the relative scale of the Universe according to an order of magnitude (or logarithmic scale) based on a factor of ten, first expanding out from the Earth until the entire universe is surveyed, then reducing inward until a single atom and its quarks are observed.
The Eames were best known for their ground-breaking contributions to architecture, furniture design, industrial design and manufacturing, and the photographic arts. Charles Eames, born 1907 in St. Louis, Missouri, studied architecture at Washington University in St. Louis and designed a number of houses and churches in collaboration with various partners.
Ray Eames was born in Sacramento, California, in 1912. She attended Bennett College in Millbrook, New York, and continued her studies in painting at the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts until 1937.
I Adopted this idea of the movie, zooming out and in. Zooming from very far to very close, the getting-closer is seen and understandable.
